We checked out of our beautiful villa and went the long way back to the airport. The long way was up over those mountains (hills) in search of the outback. We never really found the red dirt, but we did see hundreds and hundreds of termite mounds. This was interesting to me because the wood that is used to make the didgeridoo (Aboriginal instrument) is hollowed out by termites... it was easy to understand how so many trees could be attacked by these termites when we saw how many mounds there were everywhere.
We ended our drive at Barron Gorge Falls and the village close by, Kuranda... where mommy and daddy got their souvenirs... :)
Time to catch our flight to Sydney to say our goodbyes to this beautiful continent....
