From Louisiana - we made our way East and North to Mississippi's high point. Located in the north western most corner of the state... Woodall Mountain stands proud at 806'. We left our cozy park in Louisiana on Monday - found ourselves on a VERY neat road called the
Natchez Trace Parkway. This scenic by way was once used as the migratory path of bison, Indians hunting the bison and setllers. It is gorgeous... plus we didn't see one single house, gas station, bill board, etc... It was so empty that you noticed the beauty around and you noticed that you didn't see the things we are used to seeing... I really should have snapped some pictures, but I didn't. Guess you will have to check it out for yourselves. :)
We checked in to our campsite at a nearby state park and headed to Woodall Mountain. We could have driven to the top, but real highpointers walk - so we parked and walked ourselves to the top. It was probably a mile or so each way.
We camped in
Tishomingo State Park for one night - just a quick stay, but we had plenty of time to do some more bike riding and exploring. Oh, yes and we enjoiyed the active nightlife... tens of thousands of frogs is my guess... :)
