Good-bye Kindergarten

HELLO FIRST GRADE!!!!

Kindergarten at Powell has been a GREAT experience.  Her teacher, Ms Shock, was a wonderful introduction to "real" school.  The year flew by for all of us and we watched Taylor grow in so many ways...

At the beginning of the year:
I hoped she was fitting in and making friends - lets just say, no longer a worry.
Our drop-offs were rough... the first week I walked you to your classroom and helped you put your chair at your desk, hang your backpack, unpack your lunch and folder... then the second week I had to leave you at the front door... that was tough on both of us.
Our "homework" was tough - sight words, counting to 100 and sounding out words seemed so hard.
We were EXHAUSTED by Wednedsday and Thursday/Friday mornings were so tough.

At the end of the year:

You have blossomed into a social butterfly with friends in EVERY class.
We walk past a group of Kindergarteners and at least 3 of them say, "Bye Taylor"
I drop you off and sometimes you don't even look back... although most days you still like me to blow you a kiss through the window of your hallway - one time mommy got distracted by a friend and you came all the way back out and grabbed my arm!  I wont make that mistake again!
You know at least 100 sight words
Count to 100 by ones, fives and tens!
You read, sounding out words that suprise me!
Your write me stories and notes!
You "teach" Aubrey and I!

I couldn't be prouder of your BIG heart towards friends and how you are friends with EVERY one.  Your willingness to be the helper.  You are not afraid to be your own little person - even in Kindergarten.  You are smart too.  Just the other day you asked dad for $20 and when he said no - you tried again - this time asking for 2 - $10 bills.  You made kindergarten look easy and I can't wait to see what GRADE SCHOOL has in store for us!  You are loved and cherished!

This year went WAY too fast! Sniff, sniff!
