Camping - Pedernales Falls State Park

We kicked off our Thanksgiving Break with a camping trip to Pedernales Falls State Park with our Hertels.  It had started to feel slightly fall-like around here (which in Houston, means some mornings you may need a light sweatshirt) and the state park had lifted the burn ban for the weekend - so we were excited to enjoy some time outdoors - wear our jeans, have a fire, make some s'mores.   As it turned out - we should have packed swim suits and shorts only because it was 85 or so and the nights were warm and muggy... The girls each had one pair of shorts and those shorts were worn each day - you can only imagine what they looked like at the end of the trip.

The girls loved the whole experience.  They seem to be happiest outdoors - which works for us.  They had a ball scrambling over the rocks at the falls, hiking and exploring along the river bed, hanging out in the tent at the campsite, sleeping under the stars, eating their s'mores... we are already planning our next trip!

You have to have a little technology - even while roughing it!

Girl tent!  I ended up sleeping in here with them while Justin and Sierra snuggled in his tent!

Yes, more technology!

How grown up does she look these days?!?
Slow down!!!

Throwing Sierra sticks in the Pedernales River - Sierra still loves to swim like crazy and fetch sticks like a puppy!  She is a great little camper!
